Jamshedpur, June 15: In a first-of-its-kind attempt, Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has sent a post-mortem report to its affiliated schools.

The board has prepared a detailed subject-wise analytical report highlighting methods for CBSE schools to opt for better academic performance.

“The board’s main objective is to enable schools and students to understand common errors and what exactly they are expected to deliver,” said Vipin Sharma, principal of Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya (VBCV) and convenor for CBSE schools in Jamshedpur.

This subject-wise report card has been prepared after a survey of over 100 answer sheets of students picked randomly across India. “It was a two-part survey. One part was completely based on the Delhi zone results, and the other on students’ performance in different CBSE zones. The report was prepared after interviews with teachers, students and coaching centres,” said Alka Arvind, principal, Valley View School in Telco.

Jamshedpur schools received the report prepared from students’ results at the zonal level. Reports for physics and economics have arrived, addressing common errors and time-management issues, and giving inputs on better approaches to questions. While the reports for other subjects would arrive soon, schools can chalk out a strategy to approach every subject so that scores are not only high but consistent, said authorities.

“Though city schools have done well, the guidelines will help us improve,” said D. C. Srivastava, senior physics teacher at VBCV.
