Ranchi, Jan. 17: The recovery of a document from Suresh Thackery’s residence, a Christian missionary, has created a flutter.

BJP leaders, including Sarayu Roy, Chandreshwar Prasad Singh and P.N. Singh, have demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

The document — a brochure — indicated that he had planned to collect funds by establishing a voluntary organisation called Grace Ministries of India. He had also planned to establish “Chotu Besra Memorial Upasana Prayer Centre” at Dumka. Sources said Chotu Besra is the name of deputy chief minister Stephen Marandi’s father-in-law.

A source said: “A bottle of poison was recovered from the graveyard at Kanta Toli where his body was found. It was handed over to Marandi’s personal secretary for performing last rites.”

Thackery had planned to run the organisation from his rented flat in Niwaranpur. K.K. Sahu, the officer-in-charge, said they are awaiting post-mortem report.
