Jamshedpur, May 17: BSNL subscribers can heave a sigh of relief. For complaints related to bill payment, subscribers need not have to stand in long queues to submit written applications any longer.

The complaints can be lodged with a toll free number — 1500. This was announced by general manager of BSNL (Jamshedpur SSA), R.K. Mishra, during a customers’ meet organised at the Pardih telephone exchange here today, to mark World Telecommunication Day.

Mishra, along with chief general manager (Jharkhand circle) Prem Chandra, was present at the meet. As several subscribers present said they had to face a tough time waiting for hours outside the BSNL offices for bill-related complaints, Mishra announced the new facility would be implemented with immediate effect.

While a section of the subscribers demanded that the fault booking system for leased lines be automated, a senior official of Tata Steel, S.K. Singh suggested that the BSNL come up with a user manual guide. Presently, any fault in any leased lines takes a long time to be repaired due to manual operation.

BSNL officials declared that henceforth the detail month bills for landline and post-paid mobile connections would be available in all the counters spread across the city and also on the websites. A subscriber can key-in his password to access his bills.

As a part of the World Telecommunication Day, an award function was also organised by BSNL at the Rajendra Vidyalaya auditorium where chief general manager (Jharkhand circle) gave away prizes to 18 employees, who were adjudged the best workers.

Several other organisations also celebrated the World Telecommunication Day.

The Institution of Engineers organised an engineering quiz on its premises in Sakchi.

The theme of the celebration was “Connecting the young: The opportunities in Telecom sector.”
