Praful Chandra Narbheram Kamani started this school with only five students in 1986. Today, 19 years down the line, the school boasts of 1,825 students.

Initially, classes were held only till Class II, which have now been expanded till Plus Two, offering value-based quality education to all.

Managed by the Gujarati Samaj, the school gives primary preference to Gujarati students. A special fee concession is offered to them. Nonetheless, every student has to sit for an entrance exam to be a part of this institution.

Vision & Mission

The school commits itself to nurturing the future citizens, who will play a pivotal role in creating a better India and a better world. The school, therefore, closely follows the principle of training young minds to channel their efforts and create for themselves a strong future.

The vision includes an aspiration to equip students with the best facilities that will help them to excel in all the three spheres of personal, professional and social spheres.

Subjects offered

The Plus Two students get to choose their streams according to their merit. The school offers all three streams of science, commerce and humanities. ?We began our humanities department from the last academic year. There were not many students willing to enroll initially. Now there is a growing interest in the stream,? said principal Meeta Jakhanwal.

Catering to the diverse needs of students, the school has introduced psychology for students as an extra option.

Infrastructure

The school has two buildings, with the third one still under construction. There are 42 classrooms in all.

Also, there are three well- equipped science libraries and another sprawling library for miscellaneous interests, with a collection of more than 20,000 books for all students. An auditorium to facilitate various contests is also on the cards.

Various clubs

We know that all work and no play makes students a tad dull. Therefore the institution has a number of clubs to help expand a student?s horizons.

Apart from the Interact Club, it has clubs for general knowledge, the environment, computers, and a readers club as well, which brings together those bookworms and gives them a chance to discuss, breathe and live their favourite works of fiction.

Examinations

Exams are held thrice in the academic session for the senior classes along with one round of unit test of 20 marks.

The performance of kindergarten children is evaluated through continuous assessment and they are given grades accordingly. For classes I to V, the school has adopted the grade system to reduce pressure and provide them with a stress-free environment to develop their potential.

Recognition

The various awards given to students encourage them to reach greater heights in their performances. Not only are students awarded for academic excellence, there are a whole set of prizes to boost their interests in other fields as well.

The school felicitates the kindergarten students in three categories? best student award, most improved student award and the most hardworking student award.

For high school students, motivation comes in through the Ambedkar Award given for exceptional improvement, Subhash Chandra Award for their consistent hard work and the Vivekananda Award for good conduct.

The school also gives a Tagore Award for excellent performance in extra-curricular activities and the J.N.Tata Award for doing quality social work throughout the year.

The biggest recognition comes in the form of the NHES award for all- rounders for their outstanding performance throughout the academic year.

Teachers contribute personally to reward students for getting high marks in the board examinations and many special trophies are also given away annually for excellent show in the overall category and different subjects category.

Achievements

Recognition has come in regularly for this school. The biggest so far has been the International Standardisation of Organisation (ISO) certificate received by the school in 2002.

By virtue of this certificate, the school has to abide by certain rules laid down by the organisation.

?Our progress is evident from the way the school has grown in stature over the years. We receive immense support from the school managing committee and equal help from the teachers,? says school principal, Meeta Jakhanwal.
