State sports, tourism, art and culture and youth affairs minister Amar Kumar Bauri said on Wednesday that he had directed Bokaro district officials on Tuesday to take immediate steps to remedy the lack of toilets for girls at the school athletics meet.
Coming to know from The Telegraph on Tuesday about toilet woes for all 1,300 school students, especially 525 girls, Bauri said he immediately spoke to Bokaro DDC Arvind Kumar to know why the mismanagement had taken place.
"I was told they received more players than expected which led to the early chaos," Bauri said, but didn't reveal how many players were likely to come according to the Bokaro DDC's explanation.
Bauri, however, confessed that they lacked the expertise to arrange big events.
"Compared to a professional agency, we neither have the manpower and expertise to organise big events. Government officials and departmental staff need crash courses on event management, not just once but from time to time as part of capacity building. For this, we are planning to hire specialised agencies in coming days," he said.
