
A solid 145 by Arnav Sinha helped Jharkhand Red to pit a commanding score against Jharkhand Green on Day One in the Senior Challenger Trophy (Under-23) tie at BSL Stadium in Bokaro on Friday.
In the other outing at Tata Digwadih Stadium in Dhanbad, Jharkhand Yellow were 152/8 (in 45 overs) in their first innings after dismissing Jharkhand Blue for 136. They lead by 16 runs with two wickets to spare.
Opting to bat first, the Red outfit scored 344/7 in 90 overs in their first essay, Arnav leading the way with a classy century.
Skipper Vishal Singh scored 45 while Sushant Singh chipped in with 30. Vijay Jena was batting on 66 when stumps were drawn.
Pratik Ranjan of the Green team picked up three wickets.
Jharkhand Blue's decision to take first strike backfired as the outfit was dismissed for just 136 in 42.5 overs. Captain Mohammad Shahrukh scored the highest 36, whereas Kaushal Kishore Singh remained unbeaten on 26. Amit Kumar managed 21 against his name.
Vikash Kumar and Amit Singh played a vital role in putting brakes on the Blue innings. Both bagged four wickets each.
The modest total on the board did not deter the Blue warriors to take the fight to the Yellow camp.
The outfit managed to claim eight vital wickets of their opponents to reduce them to 152. Kumar Suraj was holding forte on a quickfire 77. Akhil Pant managed 26 runs for his team's cause.
Raju Pandey and Kaushal Kishore Singh claimed three and two wickets respectively.
