Ranchi, June 20: Three different banners will mark the foundation day celebrations of the All Jharkhand Students’ Union, which spearheaded the movement for separate Jharkhand.

The week witnessed a series of press meets of Ajsu factions, each announcing a rally in the state capital. With preparations for the Sunday celebration under way, various factions are on a mudslinging spree, each holding the other responsible for the mess in the “real” Ajsu. Asju (Sudesh-faction), which was first to hold a press meet on June 16, has decided to organise a Jan-jagran Maharally on the foundation day.

Ajsu (Chintamani-faction), which held a press conference today, however, decided to celebrate the occasion in Ranchi College auditorium. Chintamani Mahto attacked the Sudesh-faction for undermining the cause of a united Ajsu.

“By joining hands with the National Democratic Alliance government, Sudesh Mahto has proved that he is an opportunist and he has nothing to do with the cause Jharkhand,” Chintamani Mahto said.

Sudesh-faction central committee vice-president Praveen Prabhakar, however, maintained that theirs was the “real” Ajsu and others were welcome to join it.

The Suraj Singh Besra faction has also decided to celebrate the foundation day in a big way.
