Win some lose some.

That seems to be the message for Delhi-bound air passengers from Ranchi, who starting August 1, will get the option of a Jet Airways flight to the national capital, which will take off at 12.20pm and reach Delhi at 1.55pm. But from the same day, the existing Jet Airways Ranchi-Delhi flight that takes off at 2.35pm would be discontinued.

The soon-to-be-introduced flight would also connect Ranchi with Mumbai. According to plans, 9W 615, which will originate from Mumbai, will touch down at Calcutta and Ranchi before terminating in Delhi.

After taking off from Mumbai at 7.30am, the flight would arrive in Calcutta at 10.10am. A 40-minute halt later, the same aircraft will leave for Ranchi at 10.50am and reach Birsa Munda Airport at 11.40am. It would then leave for Delhi at 12.10pm, to reach at 1.55pm.

From Delhi, flight 9W 616 will take off for Ranchi at 2.35pm and reach Birsa Munda Airport at 4.20pm. From here, it will take off for Calcutta at 4.50pm and reach there at 5.40pm. It will take off for Mumbai at 6.30pm and reach its destination at 9.10pm.

“As a result of this new arrangement, our Ranchi-Delhi flight (9W2292) would be discontinued from August 1. Passengers who have booked their tickets earlier, would be adjusted in the new flight,” said a Jet Airways official.

The existing Ranchi-Delhi Jet Airways flight is a direct one, which later proceeds to Bangalore. Jet Airways operates one flight on the Ranchi-Delhi and two flights on the Ranchi-Calcutta sectors.

For Calcutta, Jet Airways has a morning flight that takes off from Ranchi at 8.40am. However, this flight too, would be withdrawn from August 15. “The second Ranchi-Calcutta operation which leaves Birsa Munda Airport at 7pm, would operate as usual,” the Jet Airways official said.

With the introduction of the new Jet Airways flight, from August 1, there will be two services on the Ranchi-Mumbai sector, the other being a GoAir service which will take off from Birsa Munda Airport at 1.30pm.

However, GoAir’s Ranchi-Mumbai operation will be the lone direct flight to Mumbai from Ranchi.
