July 20: Kangana Ranaut suffered an injury on the Hyderabad sets of her latest film Manikarnika - The Queen of Jhansi today.

Kangana, who has been undergoing extensive physical training to play the warrior queen, was reportedly severely injured after a sword-fight sequence with co-star Nihar Pandya went wrong, causing a deep gash on her forehead that required 15 stitches. The three-time National Award-winning actor was hospitalised and has been advised rest for five days.

"I am a bit embarrassed to be thrilled to have a battle scar on my face. Also, people from my team have been telling me that it's like that Peshwa teeka that Manikarnika wore," Kangana said in a statement. "It's a bit dramatic but I am excited that my face was covered in blood and I got a genuine and authentic glimpse of the Queen's life."

According to a source on the sets, it all happened when Kangana failed to duck when Nihar attacked her during the sword-fight sequence and the sword hit her between the eyebrows. The actress reportedly had a close shave because the cut happened quite close to the bone. She will be discharged from hospital next week.

The star of films like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu chose to not use a body double for the film's fight sequences and has been training in sword fighting under Hollywood action director Nick Powell. She will reportedly flaunt her scar when she gets back to shooting the film, directed by Krish. "Rani of Jhansi was a warrior. So Kangana has decided that she will wear her scar with pride just like the Queen of Jhansi did," revealed a unit hand.
