Matin Rey Tangu, the child actor in Tubelight who belongs to Arunachal Pradesh, was asked at a news conference on Tuesday if he was visiting India for the first time.
“Have you come to India for the first time?” a journalist is heard asking him in a video clip of the news conference that went viral on social media.
“What?” the child responds. “What?” he asks again.
Salman Khan, his co-star in the film that releases this Friday, steps in. Rolling his eyes, he tells Matin: “She is asking if this is your first time in India.”
Without batting an eyelid, the Class I student of an Itanagar school gives the journalist a quick lesson in national geography. “When I’m sitting in India, how can I come to India?” he asks.
The boy, who is fondly called Rey and Hantu at home, loves football and is a Messi fan. His father, Anupam Tangu, is the officer on special duty to Arunachal chief minister Pema Khandu.
