New Delhi, Aug. 30: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today sent a bouquet of flowers with a get-well-soon card to Anna Hazare, who has been recuperating at a private hospital in Gurgaon since he ended his 12-day fast on Sunday.

While the 74-year-old activist convalesced at Dr Naresh Trehan’s Medanta Medicity hospital, his lieutenants Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Bhushan met Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi in Parliament today.

The two handed some documents related to the Lokpal bill to Singhvi, who heads the 31-member parliamentary standing committee on the proposed anti-corruption authority.

The bouquet and the card were sent through an official to Hazare’s 13th-floor hospital room. Hazare’s doctor said he was recovering satisfactorily and could be discharged by this weekend. “He is doing well and is stable. He has also started taking soft diet,” said Dr Yatin Mehta.

“He walked for some time in his room. His blood pressure is 124/84 and pulse rate is 78 beats per minute. Ketones in his urine have reduced, which is a good sign,” said Mehta.

Hazare, the doctor added, has not read any newspapers since he was admitted but had watched news bulletins on TV.

Hazare’s team members Kiran Bedi, Kejriwal and others gave the activist company before Kejriwal and Bhushan went to Parliament to hand the documents to Singhvi. Sources said the half-an-hour meeting was cordial.

The standing committee is likely to start consultations on the Lokpal bill draft from next week.

Later, Bhushan and Kejriwal said they would support Bedi if Parliament were to issue any breach of privilege notice to her for mocking politicians from the Ramlila Maidan stage.

Bhushan, a Supreme Court senior advocate, said it was “unfortunate” that MPs wanted Parliament to serve Bedi such a notice as she did not say “anything which could be termed breach of privilege.”

He said he had also heard that MPs wanted to serve a notice on Kejriwal too.

“If this is done, it is clear... people will think that perhaps MPs are thinking that our fight is against MPs…. People will think it is a way for MPs to seek revenge,” Bhushan said.

Bedi has already said she would not apologise.
