CRPF jawan wounded in third day of attacks

The fresh attack has come despite massive security deployment across Jammu and Kashmir in view of August 15 celebrations

A CRPF sub-inspector was injured when militants hurled a grenade towards a bunker of the security force near Srinagar’s Aali Masjid at Eidgah, showing no let-up in attacks in the run-up to Independence Day.

Police said CRPF officer Parvez Rana of the 161st battalion suffered minor splinter injuries. He was shifted to hospital where he was said to be stable.The fresh attack has come despite massive security deployment across Jammu and Kashmir in view of August 15 celebrations.There were two militant attacks in the Valley on Friday.

A migrant worker from Bihar, Mohammad Amrez, was shot dead by suspected militants in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district while police constable Ghulam Qadir was shot at and injured in Anantnag district of north Kashmir.Militants on Thursday killed four soldiers and injured two in an attack on an army post in Jammu’s Rajouri district.

The army said it was a suicide attack and both militants involved were killed.The attacks have come at a time the administration is busy organising Tricolour rallies in every nook and corner of the Union Territory as part of the countrywide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to mark 75 years of Independence.
