Fake IAS trainee
Dehradun, April 1 (PTI): A woman, posing as a trainee officer, stayed at the IAS academy in Mussoorie for over six months without the knowledge of the authorities.
The woman, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, introduced herself as Ruby Chaudhry. She arrived on September 20. The matter came to light after she disappeared on March 27. An FIR has been filed.
Lawyer order
New Delhi (PTI): Ministries should not hire private lawyers but use the services of government advocates, a directive issued by the law ministry has said. The ministry has taken "serious objection" to the practice of engaging private counsels.
Kejri durbar
New Delhi (PTI): Arvind Kejriwal has postponed for a fortnight his public hearing, which was to begin at his Civil Lines residence on Wednesday, because his bungalow is undergoing renovation. Kejriwal is in the process of shifting from his Kaushambi residence to Civil Lines.
Junket cost
Panaji (PTI): Two ministers and four BJP legislators have toured at least 20 countries in the last two years, costing the Goa exchequer Rs 6.20 crore, the government has said in the Assembly. Tourism minister Dilip Parulekar alone has been to the UK, US and Turkey, among other places .
Sati stink
Mumbai (PTI): The body of a 50-year-old woman was found on her husband's pyre in Latur district on Tuesday, fuelling suspicions of sati. Relatives of Tukaram went to collect his ashes and found Usha's charred body on the pyre. Tukaram died of a heart attack on Sunday. Usha was missing since Monday evening.
Saibaba trust
Shirdi (PTI): The Saibaba trust here has received donations worth Rs 3.88 crore during the three-day Ram Navami festival, a senior official said. The trust received Rs 1.96 crore in cash boxes, Rs 62 lakh at counters and Rs 25 lakh through online donations, besides jewellery.
