Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday said the wrestlers staging a protest here demanding the arrest of the wrestling federation chief over sexual harassment charges are facing the predicament of a defiant accused and "no arrests", and wondered whether there is a "pliant investigation" into the matter.

In a tweet, he said: "Protesting Wrestlers Predicament: A minor, 6 others traumatised, a defiant accused, a silent PMO, no arrests. A pliant investigation?"

On the other hand, WFI chief Brij Bhushan claims that the athletes' protest at Jantar Mantar is being driven by the politicians from day one. "This battle has gone beyond the athletes now as political parties have become part of it. From day one of the protest, I felt that this protest was politically motivated and not the voice of the athletes. They have been influenced by politicians."

While the protest ratio has turned into 1:100, the accused WFI chief Brij Bhushan raises Akhilesh Yadav for not siding with protesting wrestlers saying Yadav was "standing with the truth".

"... if there are 10,000 wrestlers in UP, out of them, 8,000 are from the Yadav community and they belong to the Samajwadi family, and hence know the truth," he said.
