Locals gather after the Kanchanjungha Express collided with a goods train, near New Jalpaiguri railway station, on Monday, June 17, 2024. In a devastating incident near Rangapani station in West Bengal, at least 15 people lost their lives and around 60 others sustained injuries when a goods train collided with the Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express. The collision occurred around 9 am, jolting passengers and causing three rear compartments of the express train to derail under the force of the impact.

Railway officials confirmed that the locomotive of the goods train had struck the express from behind, leading to the derailment.
