US President Barack Obama was on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and gave the ABC show its fourth-highest rated episode. Obama shared nuggets from his daily life — from his texting habits to whether he can fix a sandwich for himself — but the big #win was when he read out a series of not-so-complimentary tweets addressed to him, for a section on the show called ‘Mean Tweets’.
“Is there a way we could fly Obama to some golf course halfway around the world and just leave him there?” read one tweet. “I think that’s a great idea!” was the sporting — and smiling — response from Obama, with R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts playing in the background. “Somebody send Obama some lifehacks on how to be a good president. Haha. Like, I bet that would help. LOL,” read another tweet. Obama’s reply: “You know the LOL is redundant when you have the haha?” The week’s biggest YT hit has 18,707,625 cheers.
2. TRAILER: PIXELS
“This summer, it’s game on or game over!”
Sony Pictures has just released the first trailer for its sci-fi comedy Pixels. The 2:38 trailer of the July 24 release has Adam Sandler as a former video games champion who has to “save” the earth from an invasion by classic arcade characters like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
“Pac-Man is a bad guy?!” goes Sandler’s Sam Brenner as he takes on the enemies of the earth in the film that also stars Kevin James and Peter Dinklage. The trailer, which has a shot of the Taj Mahal “disintegrating” after a space invasion, has been watched 4,584,978 times.
3. MICHELLE HAS THE MOVES
Michelle Obama played catch-up with an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where she talked about life after the White House. And with her killer dance moves, the FLOTUS showed she was no less a sport than the POTUS. As Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk played in the background, Michelle, known to be quite a mover, broke into a jig, wowing the audience at the studio — and many more around the world — with her nimble footwork and ease on the dance floor. Total claps for Michelle the mover: 2,228,789.
4. TRAILER: BOMBAY VELVET

Ranbir Kapoor kicks some serious ass in the trailer of Anurag Kashyap’s noir thriller Bombay Velvet, which dropped on YouTube on Thursday. The 2:39 trailer shows Ranbir’s transition in the Bombay of the 1960s from a cage fighter to ‘big shot’ Johnny Balraj, even as he falls in love with jazz singer Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma). Karan Johar — serious in a moustache — is Kaizad Khambatta, the man responsible for Johnny’s rise and fall. Shot in sepia tones, the trailer is a montage of some memorable shots, especially the one of Ranbir in a brown suit firing simultaneously from two Tommy guns. The trailer of the May 15 release has 1,839,875 wows.
5. MAUKA MAUKA
It’s India vs World in the new Mauka Mauka ad that was unveiled before India thrashed Bangladesh in the World Cup quarter-finals. The 1:30-minute video has the same Pakistani fan we saw in the first ad in the series roaming around with his box of crackers. Soon he is joined by hordes of fans from other countries. Time for the Indian supporters to come out and tell them that now it’s not India vs any one country... it’s India vs the world. Total views: 685,456.
6. TEASER: ONE BOTTLE DOWN
After Chaar botal vodka, it’s just One bottle down for Honey Singh. Peg banaaun kabhi naap ke nahi/ Apni peeyun kisi ke baap ki nahi go the lyrics of the party track, the 30-second teaser of which has notched 498,092 hits.

Do you get bored on long-haul flights? A Reddit user used his time on a plane to become a DJ, coming up with a ‘music track’ remixing all the ‘sounds’ one hears while on a flight! The 1:09 clip — now gone viral — features everything from an airhostess’s air safety demonstration to the ‘ping’ sound of a call button. The Reddit user has set and spliced them over a beat on a computer and added some keyboard beats.
