Mystery novelist Richard Castle is called to NYPD to assist Detective Kate Beckett after a series of murders are based on his books. She is armed. He is dangerous. They meet, they clash, they connect. Together, they formed a homicide team that had us hooked for nearly two months. The time: 10pm. The place: STAR World. The days: Monday to Thursday.

From 10 episodes in the first season to 24 episodes in the second, Castle has recently announced a 33-episode third season. Clearly, good things can’t come in small packages.

10pm will never be the same till then (no offence White Collar). Ten reasons (top 10 because there are many, many more) why we will miss Castle. Badly.

1. Nathan Fillion (Richard Castle). Super hot. The way he says ‘Castle, Rick Castle’. It’s not without reason that he gained a spot in Entertainment Weekly’s ‘50 Actors We’d Watch in Anything’.

2. Stana Katic (Kate Beckett). Super pretty. The way she says ‘Beckett’. And for those who want substance along with style, she speaks Croatian, Bosnian, Serbian, Slovene, French and Italian. Ha!

3. C restores the faith that men don’t have to be all macho and mean for women to be hooked. B restores the faith that women don’t have to be coy and all cleavage for men to be hooked.

4. It’s one of those rare unisex shows that come along and remote control wars are forgotten, thanks to its all-in-one genre. Suspense comedy drama with a dash of romantic tension. And of course, lots of eye-candy for him and her, courtesy she B and he C!

5. It’s contemporary cool. In the middle of a case, Castle said, “I have to tweet about this”. The scenarios are real and the victims everyday people. From reality show hero to late night talk show host, model to rockstar, B & C have been there, investigated that.

6. Unlike other murder-based shows, it’s not at all gross. Perfect for dinnertime viewing. For all those who liked to enjoy a 10pm meal in front of the TV — there was no need to watch a 9pm movie halfway through.

7. It’s funny. Really funny. Castle is a gem of a goofy genius. (Remember when his pants were ripped off by an Alsation?)

8. It’s good to feel bright and bang-on when B & C solve the suspense. Advantage of being predictable but still perfect!

9. The wordplay. Clever and charming, we love the mental (and physical) chemistry of B & C. The couple apart, the wordplay at every other level too. Think B’s boss and partners.

10. Castle’s family. His devoted daughter Alexis whose school projects eerily refer to a current crime. And his dramatic mother who believes in spells!

Till STAR World shows Season 3, we will miss you Castle. Sigh!
