INDRANI HALDER TAKES UP A BOLLY FILM JUST FOR BAPPI LAHIRI Published 25.02.10, 12:00 AM

Bling king Bappi Lahiri has finally inspired a directorial debut! Siddharth Suryavanshi’s comedy, Bappida Tussi Great Ho, is based on the Bong musician’s fetish for gold jewellery. And adding glam to his gold show is city actress Indrani Halder.

“The film’s all about Bappida and his gold jewellery. Bappida gets kidnapped and what follows is just hilarious! Mine is a special appearance and I have this very glamorous role of a member of Bappida’s family,” Indrani told t2 from Mumbai right after the mahurat on Tuesday.

It didn’t take much to convince Indrani to take up the role. “I am doing the film only because of Bappida.... I wouldn’t have agreed to a special appearance in a comedy film but once I heard the script I just couldn’t stop laughing! I couldn’t say no to Bappida and I felt this would be a nice way to pay my tribute to the international star that he is,” gushed Indrani, who’s been living in Mumbai for a while.

Produced by Vilas Rao Tayade and written by Raju Kariya, Bappida Tussi Great Ho also stars a host of small-screen faces like Amar Upadhyay.

Shooting starts in March in Mumbai with Indrani having a five-day schedule. “I am especially looking forward to an awards ceremony sequence featuring me. I’ll be shooting either before or after my stay in London for the London Ananda Utsav,” she added.

After the Sony mega Sujata, Indrani is steering clear of TV serials and focusing on the big screen again. Up next is a film by Rupali Guha, the daughter of Basu Chatterjee. “I play one of the main characters in that film. I will start shooting for it in May,” she signed off.
