Salman Khan is a superstar who wears his heart on his sleeve.” That’s how Karan Johar introduced his first guest in the fourth season of Koffee with Karan on Sunday night. And Salman Khan sure lived up to the billing and more — he wore his heart on his blue jacket sleeve and how! And he killed it from entry point. “Karan, your flush is not working!” were his first words as he walked down the stairs of the set — laughing and joking even as he lifted the lid off many a well-kept secret — his, his peers and his ex-girlfriends. All with a straight face and an occasional wink. We LOVED! In case you missed it, t2 traipses through the best episode on KWK. Ever.
WE NOW KNOW!
Salman almost got married to Sangeeta Bijlani. “Even the wedding cards were printed!” Karan: Did she catch you (with another girl)?
Salman: Kind of (sheepish grin). I always get caught.... So now I lie. Salman is a ‘virgin’(!)
Salman: I am going to save myself for the woman I get married to. (Straight face)
Karan: Are you saying you are a virgin?
Salman: Yes! (Poker face). I will get married. Aur suhaag raat tab hogi.
Salman sleeps alone. “It’s damn good to sleep alone! You can sleep any way you want to.” [He goes on to demonstrate that on the KWK couch!]
Salman thinks he’s a “below average” actor. “I just got lucky.”
Kumar Gaurav mentored Salman, gifting him car tyres to denims, and inspiring him to be a giver. “After Rajesh Khanna, the only person who has seen stardom is Kumar Gaurav.”
Salman does a really good impersonation of Shah Rukh Khan and buddy Sanjay Dutt! Salman is “a great guy, great guy, great guy”.
Given a choice, he would marry Preity Zinta and be “just friends” with Katrina.
ON MARRIAGE
I have met quite a few right people, but I just thought they would get righter and righter.... There was a time when I wanted to get married, but it just didn’t work out, you know. It always comes so close... so close. People have got cold feet. Isko zindagi bhar jhelna padega kya?!
I tell people not to look for a relationship or commitment from me now. The way I am now... I am not the most correct person to be with.
ON SHAH RUKH KHAN It was the holy month of Ramadan. I went up to him and tapped him and we hugged. After that he messaged once, I messaged once and that’s about it. He’s got his own life... I have my own life. I am 100 per cent sure we can never be best of friends again, but there’s lot of respect that I have and I have loved him over the years. When people bitch about him and think they can earn brownie points with me, it’s wrong. I may not see eye-to-eye with him, but I have spent time with him and I have really liked the guy. I loved the guy. Now he doesn’t need me and I don’t need him, so (gestures with his hands to show the distance between the two).
ON DEEPIKA PADUKONE
I like Deepika Padukone. I think she’s really working hard... she’s dedicated. She’s giving it her best. You can see it... it’s so evident.
ON PRIYANKA CHOPRA
Priyanka is a really good friend of mine. I really like Priyanka... I think she’s one of the most talented actresses. I... love... Priyanka.... Priyanka Chopra will make a lovely wife.
ON KARAN JOHAR
If I woke up as Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I would wonder where Karan Johar has been last night.
Karan: At gunpoint if you were asked to have a gay encounter, who would it be?
Salman: Aisi koi gun bani hi nahi hai, Karan. But just to make you feel good, you Karan. But I’m the guy, huh?
ON HIMSELF
His lifestyle: Drinking went out of the window... smoking went out of the window... partying went out of the window. I don’t like this guy (the new Salman)... this guy is boring. I get fed up of myself only.
As an actor: If I had to start now, I wouldn’t get a job even on TV!
THE RAPID-FIRE ROUND
Karan: If you woke up as Aamir Khan one morning?
Salman: Haan (copies Aamir). Dopahar ho gayi!
Karan: The best and worst part of being Salman Khan?
Salman: Getting into trouble is the best part. Not being able to get out of it is the bad part.

ON RANBIR AND KATRINA
Salman: The first time I met Ranbir he was with a girl.
Wonder why he broke up with that girl? (Poker face)
Karan: There’s a paparazzi invasion now. Like when photographs of Katrina (holidaying with Ranbir in Spain) were leaked online…
Salman: Ranbir didn’t do that?! (Poker face) I’m joking, dude (laughs).
Karan: What would you think if you woke up as Ranbir Kapoor one morning?
Salman: Salman lucky hai ya main?
Karan: As Katrina Kaif?
Salman: (shows as if she’s waking up from sleep) Where’s Ranbir?
Karan: What advice would you give Ranbir?
Salman: Have fun!
Karan: Katrina?
Salman: Make sure he doesn’t have fun!
Karan: To Hrithik Roshan?
Salman: You stay out of this (clearly hinting at a Hrithik-Katrina connection)!
Karan: Who’s more beautiful? Aishwarya, Katrina….
Salman: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan! Then Katrina Kaif… then we’ll see….
Salman: I want to work with you Karan, but instead you’ve signed Ranbir Kapoor for your next project. He’s taking away everything, ya (he of course just doesn’t mean films)! It’s not fair.

SNEAK PEEK
What Salman throws tantalising hints about is spelt out loud and clear by Kareena Kapoor in the next episode of Koffee with Karan. On the couch with cousin Ranbir, Bebo refers to Katrina Kaif as her “sister-in-law” and says she will “only dance to Chikni Chameli and Sheila ki jawani at Ranbir’s wedding... only Katrina’s songs”!
“I’ve got my lehnga ready for your wedding,” she tells a blushing Ranbir.
Watch the episode on Sunday at 9pm on STAR World.
