REMIX & REPLAY

Bolly dance number = old wine in a new bottle. t2 tracks the trend

Talk about a wild dance number: Shivang Ratch’s wish list has Oonchi hai building (Judwaa, 1997).
“It’s a quirky track and the beats will get you on the dance floor immediately! I still keep requesting DJ Iimrran for this song so that he plays it in the end. The new party song will be killer!” said the businessman partying with Ruchika Soni (top left) and Dimpy Pitty at Nocturne.

Dream cast: Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone

“For me Pehla nasha (Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, 1992) has always been one legendary romantic song, so I would like to see that track as a party number. But I do not want the romantic charm to go away with heavy remix,” said Shagufta Rahman (far left) with friend Drishti Nihalani at Myx.

“There will be nothing quite like a Laila main Laila (Qurbani, 1980)  getting remixed! The original is a hit in itself but with a makeover this track can be one of the best party songs!” gushed Rajendrani (left), partying with friends at Black.

Dream cast: Deepika Padukone

Partying with friends were Tanumita Ghosh and Nikita at M Bar Kitchen, who danced down memory lane to select a track. “It would be Tu cheez badi hai mast mast from Mohra (1994). This was the first party track that I had danced to and the latest version will be super-fun if played in the nightclubs!” laughed Tanumita (below right)

Dream cast: Akshay Kumar (ageless!) and Deepika Padukone

Sporting the on-trend cold shoulder, Shobhana Mohata at Nocturne danced her heart out to Bolly songs. “For my husband Rahul and I, it has to be Saat samundar paar (Vishwatma, 1992), both of us cannot get enough of the song and had even requested for it in a Dubai nightclub! A brand new remixed track of this number would be the best thing!” said the businesswoman.

Dream cast: Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt

For friends Riya Baidya (right) and Sugata Chakraborty at Myx, it’s Humma humma from Bombay (1995). “The tune will make it a great dance number! It was killer then and if it’s used now it will be insane, after all it’s A.R. Rahman,” said Riya.

Dream cast: Ranveer Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez

“Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko (Yaadon Ki Baaraat, 1973) would be my pick since  it happens to be my mother’s favourite track and I have grown up listening to it. The song is romantic and could be made groovy too,” said Ritu Bhargava (above right) with friend Ananya Bhuwalka at M Bar Kitchen.

Dream cast: Lisa Haydon and Arjun Rampal

In town to spin Bolly tracks was DJ Angel at Black (Aauris) on Saturday night. “I want old tracks like Om shanti om (Karz, 1980) and Kangana (2007) to make a comeback as party hits because these are such great tracks to play and get people dancing!” she said.

Celebrating her birthday at Nocturne, Ruchita Bohra’s pick was Tumse milne ki tamannah from Saajan (1991). “This song will be my dedication to Salman Khan since I am his huge fan! Also as a party number it is peppy, with catchy lyrics and great to dance to,” said the b’day girl.

Adding to the Saturday party vibe was Tanushree Roy Bardhan on the Myx dance floor. “There is nothing like a good retro song  getting remixed into a hit party number. My pick is Aaja aaja main hoon pyar tera from Teesri Manzil (1966) and Pehla nasha (Jo Jeeta...) being used as a dance number!” said the cabin crew.

Dream cast: Tiger Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez
