Mood & music: ‘We are family’ was the mantra for over 150 guests at The Ffort Raichak on Christmas Day. Salsateca Dance Troupe took over Footloose, the in-house disc, and then it was DJ Vishal’s turn to make some noise. From Lungi dance (played twice on popular demand) to Pyaar ki pungi, Sari ke fall sa, Fevicol se, Tamanche pe disco, Badtameez dil and Dilliwaali girlfriend, it was quite a masala mix that was lapped up by the guests.

She was wearing: From jeans and printed tights to trousers, dresses, short skirts, peplums and even salwar suits. Comfort clearly ruled.

He was wearing: Suits, dinner jackets, jeans and the staple black shirt. Pullovers and sweatshirts were also spotted.

food & beverage: Snacks and drinks at Footloose were followed by an elaborate Christmas spread by the poolside. Kebabs and Barbecue Cottage Cheese made for perfect starters followed by Roasted Turkey, Double-baked Ham, Grilled Fish, Christmas pudding, Fruit Gratin and ice cream. Those who cannot think of dinner without their dal and rice, the feast included an Indian fare too.

Club speak: “The place is now full of people on holidays, more so because of the Ffort festival organised at Raichak on Ganges, in association with t2. It is a nice way to end the festive season away from the city with your family. The celebrations will continue till December 31,” said Pinaki Ghosh, resident manager, The Ffort Raichak.

DKS Annual Week in association with t2

Mood & music: The festive mood was visible everywhere. Pretty decorations, lovely music and yummy food made for some great family time at The Children’s Day Out on Christmas. The club wore red and white balloons, with a table in the centre of the ground holding a Christmas tree. The faux snow counter and the Jumping Castle were the biggest hits with the kids. A magic show and a fancy dress competition also kept the children busy, while the terrace turned into a hang-out zone for adults who caught up over sip and bite. Special add-ons? Counters for hair braiding, hair spiking, nail art and tattoos, and stalls selling cosmetics and junk jewellery.

food & beverage: There were various stalls selling Papri Chaat, Bhel Puri and sweet treats. But popcorn and candyfloss scored the highest with the bachcha party. Of course, the highlight of the day was the Christmas turkey lunch.

Club speak: “The children look forward to the event every year. They enjoy it very much. This event is being held for the past 25 years and all the kids have a really nice time. Our DKS Mega Cultural Week always kicks off with The Children’s Day Out,” said Hiranmoy Chatterjee, honorary general secretary, DKS.

Honey Singh Yo Yo Express 2013 Live in Concert in association with t2

It couldn’t have been a better Christmas for Class II student Krish Jain. The kid was called on stage by Honey Singh who showed some really cool ‘yo yo’ steps and lip-synced to his songs. “Mazaa aa gaya! I love Honey Singh! He is so smart and sings so well,” said the ecstatic Delhi Public School, Megacity student.

Long queues, packed parking area and ‘Yo Yo’ chants pretty much summed up the mood at Aquatica on Christmas evening. The Honey Singh live concert kick-started with DJ Dippy playing current Bollywood songs. Tamanche pe disco, Gandi baat, Tooh, Badtameez dil and many more were followed by a dance performance by local group Fire and Rain.

Finally, when Yo Yo Honey Singh walked in and greeted the crowd with “Kolkata ki korchi?” Aquatica erupted in loud cheers and hoots. The star of the night belted out one hit after another — High heels to Breakup party and Dope shope — and before long was joined by his band Mafia Mundeer.

From rapping with the crowd to dancing on gigantic speakers to flexing his muscles on the stage, Yo Yo Honey Singh was a man on fire. The moment of the night? When he dedicated his hit song Brown rang to the Calcutta girls!

The 60-minute performance saw more hits like Angrezi beat, Party all night, Main sharabi and his latest track Blue eyes! Honey Singh wrapped up the evening with Lungi dance and a message for Calcuttans: “Thank you, Calcutta. Next time I come, it will be during Durga Puja”, leaving the crowd berserk.
