1Alia Bhatt, largely tipped off as Bollywood’s next big thing, made her way into the fashion pages with this look. It was August 2012. She came with her mentor-director Karan Johar for Manish Malhotra’s couture show in Delhi. In a pretty pink prom dress, she looked every bit Student Of The Year.

2Soon after, SOTY promos started with a bang, with Alia sporting her screen looks. Shanaya Singhania was sexy and sizzling in tiny skater dresses, bling hairbands, pop mouth, super-high heels, miniskirts and luxe labels. Manish Malhotra made sure the petite beauty looked like a million bucks on screen too. Result? Alia set the season’s top trends.

3After SOTY’s high fashion, her glam quotient hit an all-time low in January 2013. Left on her own, the 19-year-old came out in one dud appearance after another. She wore insipid outfits like this Shehla Khan dress.

4The confusion continued. This statement Gaurav Gupta dress didn’t do anything for young Alia. She didn’t have the attitude to match the outfit.

5She tried and tested the first half of 2013. This look in May left much to be desired. The silhouette drowned her petite frame and the styling seemed off.

7In July 2013 she made her ramp debut for Azva at Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week. She looked confident on the catwalk. Later that year, she also walked the ramp for Masaba Gupta at WIFW. A fashionista was born!

Crop tops. Leather. Classic silhouettes. Desi drama. Check. Check. Check. Her most recent outing floored us (and also inspired us to go through her archive) — a Frou Frou blouse and a so-now pencil skirt. Dior kitten heels + side-swept pony + bright lips = LOVE LOVE LOVE!
