Most people take their eggs seriously, and even if they can’t decide between red velvet and cheesecake, they most certainly know what to pick between sunny side up and over easy. Here’s what Team t2 had to say about eggs:
- I pretty much survived on eggs till 2012. Then came the fishy twist to the kahani! Typhoid unleashed the rui, koi, pona, along with kaanchkola, on me. And life has never been the same. I have never been the same. From at least six eggs a day, I am down to two per week. Nevertheless, eggs remain my first love. Anything eggy is welcome. Omelette, poached, runny yolk, hard-boiled, anda bhurji… Maggi and noodles are incomplete without eggs. I can even have muri with eggs!
- I grew up in a joint family with five goon-like cousins. It was literally the survival of the fittest and to make matters worse, I happened to be youngest, the tiniest and the skinniest. So the tears that flowed profusely before an egg-y meal ensured that I got the bigger portion of the egg, halved by a thread by my jethima. That’s an art, trust me! My eyes became an invisible microscope, minutely observing the process of slicing. Now I have an entire egg to myself, but somehow, it’s not the same anymore. What seemed like torture then is my fondest childhood memory now.
- Scrambled, sunny side up, poached, hard-boiled, soft-boiled, diced — just serve me eggs. That it’s one of the primary ingredients to bake a cake makes it more dear to me. Well, for that matter it goes into everything delicious! Eggs and I, we’ve got each other’s back, I say.
- Eggs are happiness on a plate. Best with milk, cheese and some oregano. And ketchup.
- lNo chicken, no mutton, no problem. There’s always egg! A simple omelette brings a smile to my face. Hard-boiled, Eggs Benedict, Scrambled, Poached or Egg Kasa, I love having egg in all these forms. The only way I won’t have it is semi-boiled or runny!
- My favourite comfort food is dim-aloo sheddo and bhaat with copious amounts of butter and like most people, the first thing I ever perfected on the frying pan was the omelette.
- Recently, I was gifted a bottle of pimento olives. Now, my favourite breakfast is a mash-up of the yolk of a hard-boiled egg with chopped onions and pimentos.
