“I love my body a lot. I know everybody does, but I’m too much in love with myself!” This bold and brazen voice aims to push the soaring Celsius even higher in the city with Black Mail, directed by Surjya Sen, which hit the halls on February 1 without much ado and with an ‘A’ certificate.

Who’s that girl?

She’s Nimisha Dey Sarkar, a student of BBA at Institute of Chartered Financial Analysis, Salt Lake. She is 20 and lives in Garia.

Why has she bared (almost) all for a publicity poster for Black Mail?

“What’s wrong in it? I am an actor, and if the script so demands and if the team I’m working with makes me comfortable, I don’t mind going semi-nude or wearing a bikini,” says she.

What does she play in Black Mail?

The second lead opposite newcomer Rohan, who plays a cop. “Black Mail is a thriller and my character seduces Rohan (who’s married to Arunima Ghosh in the film) to a romantic getaway to the beaches,” says Nimisha.

Her film debut was?

Subrata Sen’s Koyekti Meyer Galpo in June last year, where she played “a lesbian and even kissed a girl!”

How do her family/friends react to her boldness?

“My family is very supportive. They only criticise me if I fail to do my job, which is acting. Whether I am running around in a bikini or posing semi-nude is none of their concern. My parents have watched Black Mail and they liked my work. In fact, Ronyda (Rajatava Dutta, who plays a mafia don in the film) told me that I am not looking vulgar. I showed the publicity still to my friends and they loved it.”

Is she happy with her bikini look?

“I had gained a bit of weight during the song sequences (picture above), but my director told me that the Bengali audience like flabby girls! So I was okay. I don’t think I look too fat in a bikini; I look desirable...!”

Will she go nude for a film?

“I didn’t join the industry thinking I would do nude scenes! I am here to act. If I get offers from directors like Goutam Ghose, Subrata Sen or Aniket Chattopadhyay, I wouldn’t mind doing bold scenes or posing nude. But I want to do various kinds of roles. If the directors here approach me only because there’s a nude scene in their film, it’s sad. But I don’t think I will be tagged as ‘the actress who does nude scenes’. I want to work in good films and if the script demands that I have to show a lot of skin, then why not? After all, we are all trying to make cinema as real as possible. And since I have my family’s backing, I don’t think it will be a problem.”

What does the Black Mail director think of his dare-bare heroine?

“The subject of the film is adult and I wanted a heroine who was ready to do bold scenes. Nimisha was very comfortable in those scenes. She is completely inhibition-free. See, if a director is making an adult film and showing an extramarital affair knowing that the film will get an ‘A’ certificate, then why should he not show skin? My film is not for the faint-hearted. It’s very bold,” says Surjya Sen.
