When getting ‘drunched’ was the order of the day at Vintage Asia

It was time for brunch, or shall we say ‘drunch’ (read: brunch with an emphasis on mixology and drink) at the Johnnie Walker Gourmet Drunch at Vintage Asia in JW Marriott recently. With a relaxed vibe, a pan-Asian spread and lots of Scotch mixed with some of the favourite ingredients from Bengal, the afternoon do was hic-happy indeed!

“We wanted to incorporate local ingredients into the drinks and come up with unique flavours, keeping in mind that they pair well with the food,” said Brandon Toborg, reserve brand ambassador, Diageo.

Drinks for the day? Three cocktails — (l-r) the summery Red Gondhoraj Pop (Johnnie Walker Red Label with a gondhoraj lime twist); the smoky and delicious Johnnie Black Poppy Sour; and the sweet and smooth Kolkata Gold (Johnnie Walker Gold Label with a hint of jaggery and milk) — were paired with each course. A drink that caught our eye was Johnnie Ginger that did the rounds in cute test tubes to get the guests in the perfect ‘drunch’ mood.
