Top honours for Tech Mahindra at The Telegraph Cup Football 2018

The finals of The Telegraph Cup Football 2018: The CC&FC Invitational 5-a-side Corporate Football Tournament were held at the club grounds on May 26, resulting in some intense action. The finals of The Telegraph Cup Football 2018: The CC&FC Invitational 5-a-side Corporate Football Tournament were held at the club grounds on May 26, resulting in some intense action. There were quite a few diving saves, and some of the players even got injured, but decided to carry on. The Gold Cup final between Tech Mahindra and NCPI witnessed heartbreak as NCPI desperately tried to equalise after they had conceded once, but couldn’t make it despite several attempts on goal. Tech Mahindra held on to emerge as the winners of the Gold Cup. Veteran players of the Cup and members of other teams had also dropped by to see how the game turned out. The winning teams celebrated, some spraying water on each other, and others showing us some dance moves.

The Fair Play Award went to team HCL.
Rabindranath Das won the Best Goalkeeper award for his outstanding saves. “I had to be very active at the goalpost, since I am new to the tournament. The competition inspired me to perform better,” said the Gianluigi Buffon fan. 
Susanta Gupta, who was the goalkeeper for Tech Mahindra, won the Player of the Tournament award. “This is a big win for us, and I gave it my all. I think we played well as a team and stood our ground, which makes me very proud, because football is essentially a team game,” he said.
“It was a pleasure hosting the Cup again this year. People are usually unaware of the rules of a five-a-side football match, but this year I saw everyone up to date with the rules. We expect to see stronger participation and a larger crowd next year,” said Captain Arnab Sen, president of the club.
