CALCUTTA CLASSICS

Park Street’s favourite live music destination Someplace Else received the Award for Excellence from Shaun Kenworthy.

Always buzzing with diners, Bar-B-Q on Park Street means must-have dishes like Chilli Garlic Pepper Chicken and King Prawns Pepper Salt for its loyalists. The team with their Award for Excellence. 

Breakfast on Park Street has always meant Flurys for the past 90 years. The team with their Award for Excellence. 

Kusum Roll’s has been rolling out those delicious bites on Park Street since 1971. Jury member Shaun Kenworthy handed over the Award for Excellence to them. 

BENGALI

Kochupata Chingri Bhapa to Dhakai Ilish Biryani, the Opaar Bangla delicacies from Kasturi are our favourites. They received the Award for Excellence from jury member Shaun Kenworthy.

Bekti Paturi or Chicken Dak Bungalow, we can’t resist the Bong staples at this popular chain of restaurants. Bhojohori Manna with their Award for Excellence. 

INDIAN

Be it their Subz Shikampuri Kebab or Prawn Pulav, Bombay Brasserie wins it big with their food. The team with their Award for Excellence.

Their kebabs must not be missed, especially the Mutton Adrak Ke Panje! Punjabee Rasoi received their Award for Excellence from footwear designer Rohan Arora.

Though comparatively young on the city’s Mughlai map, Oudh 1590 has made fans with its range of biryanis and other Awadhi dishes. The team with their Award for Excellence.

ORIENTAL

“Their dim sums are the best” — ask any loyalist and you will get the same answer. Yauatcha with their Award for Excellence.

Mamagoto made Asian dining fun and fine on Park Street and walked away with an Award for Excellence. 

Tangra Chinese wouldn’t be this attractive for many foodies without a destination named Beijing. Jury member Swastika Mukherjee handed over the Award for Excellence.

BIRYANI

Three generations of New Aliah Hotel, the iconic biryani house on Bentinck Street, were on stage to receive the Award for Excellence, from Rohan Arora. 

Serving biryani since 1956, Shiraz Golden Restaurant walked away with another feather in their cap — the #TTFG Award for Excellence. 

One of the busiest biryani destinations in the city, Arsalan with their Award for Excellence.

SOUTH INDIAN

Team Ammini — who got Calcutta lip-smacking Kerala cuisine, both veg and non-veg — with their 
Award for Excellence.

With their comprehensive menu, you can almost travel the whole of south India sitting at this Deshapriya Park restaurant. Tamarind received the Award for Excellence from actress Gargee Roychowdhury.

ITALIAN & CONTINENTAL

A hit with the young and the young-at-heart, Cafe Mezzuna received the Award for Excellence from designer Agnimitra Paul.

One place in Calcutta you must try the El’ Tiramisu? Serafina it is! The team with their Award for Excellence.

TIBETAN

We love popping into The Blue Poppy for some Pork Shapta! The team, all decked up in colourful, traditional costume, received the Award for Excellence from fashion designer Abhishek Dutta.

Their Hangover Momo is our go-to dish after a sip-happy weekend. Momo I Am with the Award for Excellence at #TTFG.

GLOBAL

Only here will you get Calcutta phuchkas named Balam Phuchkari! Gabbar’s Bar & Kitchen with their Award for Excellence.

A small space that packs a lot of punch. We love their Meaty Monster pizza. My Big Fat Belly received their Award for Excellence from IIHM CEO and chief mentor Suborno Bose and jury member Parno Mittra.

From Tex-Mex to Italian, Chili’s Grill & Bar has been our favourite since they opened their first outlet in 2013. The team with their Award for Excellence. 

CAFE

French Press, Macchiato, Pour-over... some coffee lovers begin and end their day at 8th Day Cafe & Bakery. The team with their Award for Excellence.

Perhaps the only cafe that weaves the warmth of desi fabrics and flavours of Bangali favourites like Luchi Chholar Dal and Mangshor Chop — Byloom Cafe with the Award for Excellence from Parno Mittra.

You know who brought Darjeeling (think Keventers pork platter and a cuppa second flush) to Golpark? The Whistling Kettle! The team with their Award for Excellence.

CAFE WITH A CAUSE

This cosy and colourful space near Maddox Square celebrates being “special”, and leaves you with a special aftertaste. Team Cafe ICanFlyy received their Award for Excellence from jury member Parno Mittra.

They not only serve your favourite cafe food, they take care of your fur babies too! The Love Room with their Award for Excellence.

COLD DESSERTS

Calcutta’s very own ice cream wallahs, Pabrai’s Fresh & Naturelle gave us Nolen Gur Ice Cream, and we couldn’t stop loving them since. The team with their Award for Excellence. 

After winning hearts in Mumbai, Naturals made Park Street cooler with its real fruit ice creams. Actress Koneenica Banerjee handed over their Award for Excellence.

Strawberry, Butterscotch, Hazelnut, Mint Oreo... you name it and they have it neatly bottled. Keventers — The Original Milkshake with their Award for Excellence.

DESSERTS

Our idea of a pretty-as-a-fairy tale cafe with a sinful cup of Hot Chocolate was brought alive by Mrs. Magpie. Koneenica Banerjee handed over the Award for Excellence.

Balaram Mullick & Radharaman Mullick has taken the traditional mishti to the next level. The team with their Award for Excellence.

We need no excuse to order a Marble Cake from Kookie Jar, our favourite for almost every occasion. The team with their Award for Excellence.

A cafe chain with a Parisian vibe, Paris Cafe made red velvet cupcakes synonymous with pure love. Koneenica Banerjee handed over the Award for Excellence.

PUB

Monkey Bar, the national chain that calls Camac Street home, received their Award for Excellence from actress Arunima Ghosh. How do we feel when we go there? Yeh dil ‘Manga’ more!

Craft beers to Guptajis Toast — The Grid with their Award for Excellence for being a must-visit place for party peeps in the city and some celebs too (Suresh Raina to Sussanne Khan). We love how they are pushing the envelope. 

Whats In D Name, the pub on Camac Street known for its cray acoustic nights and DJ scene, with their Award for Excellence. 

PUB (SECTOR V & RAJARHAT)

Raize the Bar is keeping the pubbing scene in Sectov V alive and kicking with their newly-launched brewery. The team with their Award for Excellence.

Known for its great vibe and ambience, Pour House in Sector V received their Award for Excellence, from actress Tonushree and model Sneha Ghosh.

NIGHTCLUB

For the last seven years, they have made their patrons “live the night” with their Bolly and commercial tracks. Shakespeare Sarani nightspot Nocturne with their Award for Excellence.

Hip-hop or house, there is never a dull moment at Roxy. The team with their Award for Excellence from Arunima and (far left) Supratim Dasgupta, general manager, key accounts, Diageo India.

If you love dance and electronic music or a live band performance, this nightspot on Shakespeare Sarani is the place to be. Phoenix (previously Plush) at The Astor with the Award for Excellence. 

ALFRESCO

Killer view of the city’s skyline, delish seafood ravioli or gin cocktails — Ozora in Acropolis Mall received their Award for Excellence from Tonushree and Sneha. 

Open-air, chic decor and a great place to unwind, Aqua at The Park with their Award for Excellence.

Heritage backdrop, chill music and the perfect ambience to get into the party mood. Deck 88 (The Astor) with their Award for Excellence.

VEGETARIAN

Cafe 4/1 on Camac Street serves vegetarian food with a homely touch. The team with their Award for Excellence.

Be it their Watermelon Feta Salad or Broccoli Soup, we love all the vegetarian food at Wabi Sabi. The team received their Award for Excellence from actress Gargee Roychowdhury.

NEW IN TOWN

After rocking it in other cities, Hard Rock Cafe landed in Calcutta in December. Hickory-Smoked Ribs is a t2 favourite. The team with their Award for Excellence. 

This Asian gastropub on Camac Street bowled us over with their baos and Robatayaki skewers. The Fatty Bao team with their Award for Excellence.

From the Sushi Boat to the Tokyo Summer cocktail, we loved almost every bite and sip at Pa Pa Ya, the latest Asian dine den on Park Street. Jury member Kirti Bhoutika handed over the Award for Excellence to them.

A chic bistro, restaurant and club rolled into one, The Salt House on Shakespeare Sarani won our hearts with their European cuisine with a contemporary twist. The team with their Award for Excellence. 

What do we love about Capella, AltAir in Sector V? The ‘small eats’ menu at this 90-seater “restobar-kitchen-brewery-sky bar”! The team with their Award for Excellence.

ALL-DAY DINING IN A HOTEL

They welcome us any time, any day. These all-day dining stops at the five-star addresses were the #TTFG jury’s choice for the Award for Excellence.
