Imagine a quiet and pristine tearoom in Covent Garden, London, where you can sit at a table with a view and sip on your fave brew while languidly going through your read of the week. It’s the same feel we got as we walked into The Tea Place by Manjushree on Purna Das Road.
Spread across two floors covering 2035sq ft, the 42-seater tea lounge has a variety of delectable sweet and savoury items. Done up in white — from the furniture to the crockery — the place is a reflection of sophisticated taste. There are bookshelves loaded with treasures from the royal households, and a spot for you if you take your tea seriously.
The tea lounge houses three seating zones, one on the ground floor right next to the tea station where you can experiment with your brews. The zone upstairs has more seating along with a designated tearoom (in picture below left) done up with ornate sofas and a bookshelf that houses culinary treasures from all over the country.
“The Tea Place is an intricately crafted piece of art and we wanted the space to be elegant, not just in terms of look but also in taste and feel. Hence an eye for detail has been the key idea behind everything in the space,” said Indraneel Mukherjee, CEO, Manjushree Plantations, who has also been a tea taster for 36 years.
The ground floor has a tea tasting space where an expert will help you choose from a variety of teas. You can not only taste but also create the blend of tea you prefer.
Tea Stories, a collection of teabags in different flavours in book-like packaging, is an interesting gift option. What we loved about it? If you hold a teabag over a hot cup of tea, you can read stories that keep vanishing every time you move it away from the heat of the cup!
