Shraddha Kapoor stars in a fun advertisement for MyGlamm in what is the beauty and personal care brand’s first ever national TVC around the message ‘Tell MyGlamm What You Want’. The Chhichhore actress is the brand ambassador and an investor in MyGlamm. She tells t2 about her beauty favourites and her new role.

Is Shraddha Kapoor a make-up person?

It depends on the make-up product. I like make-up made with ‘good-for-you’ formulas that protect my skin. My make-up style though is more on the minimalist side of things. Make-up is an important part of my work. While I enjoy the variation it brings to every role I play, I do allow my skin to breathe by proper removal of my make-up as and when possible.

What is your go-to look for a regular day out?

When it comes to make-up, I think there’s a couple of things I prefer. Moisturiser is really my best friend. Less is more. I love mascara, some concealer and a tinted lip balm. For an actress, make-up is something that’s part of the job, and so protecting my skin and having a healthy base becomes that much more important. Icing my skin really works well for me.

What is the most experimental thing you have tried when it comes to make-up?

When it comes to make-up, the most experimental thing I’ve tried is funky eye make-up with vibrant eyeshadows and glitter eyeshadows. I have a lot of fun with those.

What is the most challenging part of doing your own make-up?

The most challenging part of doing my own make-up is putting on false eyelashes. It’s taken me time to learn and get better at it, but it is still time consuming and challenging.

Who is your favourite make-up artist?

My favourite make-up artist would be Shraddha Naik, she understands my skin and knows what works well for me. It is very essential to trust your make-up artist.

Growing up, whose sense of make-up did you find amazing?

In the industry, my beauty icons are my aunt — Padmini Kolhapure, Waheeda Rehmanji and my mom (Shivangi), even though she didn’t do more than one movie, she is my number one beauty icon.

Make-up has almost taken the role of a pep-me-up in the lockdown. What all did you try?

I’ve tried a lot of different lip colours, even though I wasn’t going anywhere. I’m quite fascinated with lip colours but at the same time I’m not a very lip colour person. I just try them out of curiosity of how it looks on me. I’m more of an eye make-up person, so I tried different eyeliners, eyeshadows and mascaras as well, along with highlighter and blush.

You are also an investor in MyGlamm now. When did you discover this side of yours?

It was exciting when MyGlamm approached me to be the face of the brand, I decided then to not only be an ambassador but also an investor in the brand. With an interest in the beauty industry, and as an entrepreneur venturing into it, I have carefully been studying the DTC beauty market and it is growing rapidly. I’m really excited to be a part of MyGlamm’s first ever TVC. I deeply resonate with the philosophy of the brand and their unique approach towards creating products women ask for that is reflected in this campaign. Through MyGlamm, I hope to understand and fulfil the beauty needs of my fans and followers.

What are your beauty goals?

I think beauty goes beyond skin deep. For me beauty goals are successfully highlighting less is more and keeping it simple. Highlight what you want to highlight and keep it YOU!

Favourite make-up look

Can you tell us about some of your favourite make-up looks from films?

I can’t make a choice between my favourites, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Natalie Portman. All I can say is that these three women look stunning in every movie. My sense of connection comes from how all three of them have a minimal yet impactful look from Pretty Woman, to Black Swan… you can’t take a pick.
