Something I always look forward to on weekends is travelling. I can’t stay in Mumbai for more than 10-15 days at a stretch, so most weekends I pack my bags and head towards some nearby travel destination or the other.
I have a house in Pune. So on weekends I usually drive down there. Set amidst beautiful green surroundings, Pune is a great place to chill out in. Some of my close friends also have houses there, so it is convenient for all of us to meet up and stay in Pune. With friends time simply flies, and after chit-chatting for long hours we usually go off to sleep very late — around 2-3 am in the morning. This obviously means we get up late the next day — but since the idea is to have a relaxed time, it is ok to do so.
Apart from Pune I love visiting places close to Mumbai. Khandala and Mahabaleshwar, both of which have amazing climates, are my favourites.
Though I am a good cook, cooking is not something I really enjoy doing over the weekends. A weekend for me is the time I take off for myself to relax and unwind. If I’m in the mood, a major part of my weekends are spent reading and writing. Earlier I used to write plays but in recent times, I haven’t had the time to do so.
I generally don’t like to go shopping, though sometimes it’s inevitable. But it is never a long drawn-out affair. If ever I go to shop I can only shop a thing a day. If I’m buying jeans one day I would buy shoes the next day because I don’t have the patience to devote an entire day to shopping. So even when I’m out buying things, it never becomes a major part of my weekend.
But these days, a long leisurely weekend is becoming a rare occurrence. Post Bigg Boss — I’m busy shooting for Apney, which is being directed by Anil Sharma. So for some time to come my weekends are going to be very full.
