My weekends almost always pass by in a flurry of activities ? basically attending one event after another. I have been associated with CINI Asha for some time now, and over Saturdays and Sundays, I try and meet as many people as possible who are being helped out by the organisation. Blood donation camps, thalassaemia workshops, even shows put up in aid of underprivileged kids, I go to them all. And then of course, there are endless invitations to sporting events ? and by that I don’t just mean football. From kho kho and kabaddi to cricket matches, you’ll find me all over the place, even attending addas organised by various clubs. And between all of these, my weekends are well and truly taken care of.
I love listening to music, both the classical and semi-classical variety, and I try and squeeze in a bit of time to indulge this passion. Adda with friends too has always been up there on my list of enjoyments, but nowadays, I hardly get the time. Ever since my wife passed away two years ago, things just haven’t been the same. I’ve cut down on socialising, nor do I visit friends’ or relatives’ places as frequently as I would with her ? I feel that my zest for life isn’t what it was.
But that said, there are other engagements to keep me busy. And in the little time I do get, there are other activities close to my heart. I hail from Dooars and even today, I love going back there to wallow in the beauty of nature. Also, though I don’t eat out much, when my younger daughter comes down from abroad, we do drop into Mainland China or a restaurant specialising in Continental cuisine. But these occasions are rare. Events, events and more events are what my weekends are actually all about.
