What’s topping the charts in the city nightclubs as well as YouTube? DJ Snake’s latest music video, Magenta Riddim. So what’s special about the track? It is directed by Gal Muggia and Vania Heymann — the duo behind Coldplay’s Grammy Award-nominated video for Up & Up — and is shot in south India with an Indian cast. The tunes are heavily inspired by India and the track has bagged more than 15.1 million views on YouTube. The groovy video has firefighters breaking into a happy jig and cars flying Rajinikanth-style. “I’m proud to say, this is probably my best video ever,” posted DJ Snake on Twitter.
“Magenta Riddim depicts DJ Snake’s affection for India. Groovy and catchy, this one is shot in India just like Lean On. I just love the Indian touch,” said Kriti Mundhra (left) with friend Tripti Sethia at Nocturne.
“It’s a pumped-up track and it can make anybody get to the dance floor without a second thought. DJ Snake’s Get Low and Turn Down For What have always been favourites. The rhythm, the beat, the tempo, the melody and the harmony of Magenta Riddim make it one of the best from DJ Snake,” said Dibya Patranabish (right) at Myx with friend Madhurima Basak.
“I usually like songs with lyrics but this one is an exception because it is high on beats with barely any words. The video is very dramatic,” said Mehar Sethi at M Bar Kitchen.
