Some like it sweet, some like it savoury, some prefer it for breakfast, while others can eat it anytime. Some like it classic, while others prefer it with a twist. But is there anyone who doesn’t like waffles? No way! And there’s no such thing as too many waffles. Before the world gears up for Waffle Day on March 25, t2 raided some waffle dens in the city to pick our faves.
Berry All The Way at The Country House Cafe: Hot and crunchy waffles are loaded with dried black berries, and served with maple syrup. The sweetness will linger on your taste buds even after you’ve left this Allenby Road cafe. Rs 195-plus
Loaded Fruity Waffles with Extra Maple at Deck 88: The live waffle counter at The Astor chill zone serves a yummy plate of waffles loaded with strawberries, chocolate chips, maple syrup and whipped cream.

Chef’s Waffle of the Day at The Bikers Cafe: The Elgin Road eatery serves this waffle with an overload of seasonal fruits. t2 tried an eggless preparation topped with sliced kiwis, strawberries, caramelised nuts, whipped cream and strawberry and kiwi crush. The fruits keep changing as per the season. Rs 240-plus
Oreo Waffle at Crepes & Waffles: If you like your waffle loaded, and with some added crunch, then try this one from the kiosks in City Centre Salt Lake and inside INOX, Quest. Rs 100.
Apart from sweet waffles, they also have savoury variants such as the Barbecue
Mushroom Waffle.
Red Velvet Waff-Wich at The Belgian Waffle Co.: An easy-to-eat waffle sandwich with cream cheese and white chocolate sandwiched between two red velvet waffle bases. Available at the Allenby Road, Salt Lake, Kankurgachhi, Short Street and Avani Riverside Mall outlets. Rs 150
Breakfast Waffle at Waffle Wallah: This innovative dish is served as an all-day breakfast item at the Park Street and Quest mall outlets. Served with a choice of eggs (fried/scrambled/akuri), along with sausages, you’d get used to this in the mornings. Rs 180-plus
Roasted Veggie Waffle at Piccadilly Square: Craving a wholesome meal? Bite into the Roasted Veggie Waffle at the Lansdowne cafe. The crunch from the roasted veggies, the aroma of the parsley and the creaminess of the red pepper mayo served on the side make it a neat dish. Rs 180-plus.
For sweet lovers, the Hazel Heaven and the Caramel Pecan waffles are a good option.
Candy Waffles at World of Waffles: Waffles on a stick and dipped in a sauce of your choice. Choose from Nutella, Hot Chocolate and Blueberry at the waffle den in Salt Lake.
Rs 55 each. They also have a range of whole waffles in yummy flavours.
Classic Belgium waffle at Waffle Junction: With outlets in Sector V, Sarat Bose Road and Howrah, they perfect this classic waffle, topped with loads of butter and served with maple syrup on the side. Rs 130 for half portion.
Caramelised Apple Cinnamon Waffles at The Grid: The Topsia pub serves four quarter waffles stacked side by side and smothered with a sauce made of caramelised apples, butter, cinnamon and condensed milk, for that ultimate comfort bite. Rs 280-plus
Nutella Waffles at Paris Cafe: Available at the Ballygunge outlet of Paris Cafe, these smooth Nutella-based waffles, served with some more Nutella on the side, are heaven for the chocolate and hazelnut lover. Rs 230-plus
