The Munich Oktoberfest is held every year over a period of 16 days, concluding on the first Sunday in October. Pitched as the world’s largest people’s fair, during the two-week period over 6.5 million people visit the fields of Theresienwiese in Munich to enjoy the music, beer-games, traditional foods and have a great time. The Oktoberfest began in 1810, when Prince Ludwig was married to Princess Therese and the citizens were invited to join in the festivities. The tradition was pushed back to September because of the inclement weather. This coming weekend, Hyderabad will be pulsating to live concerts, competitive games and ‘flea’ shopping. Inspired by the Oktoberfest, The Great Indian October Fest has become an annual pilgrimage for those who like to party hard. Cheers!
