Out of 300 nominations, a total of 25 awards were given out to city bloggers.
Food writer Rajen Bali, who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, was happy to see so much enthusiasm among food bloggers who often have different careers yet blog for their love of food. “There’s an increase in the number of bloggers and their popularity. They all must be applauded and acknowledged,” said Bali.
The judges’ panel included (l-r) Italian chef Davide Cananzi; blogger Rekha Kakkar; Sameer Malkani, co-founder of Food Bloggers Association in India; and food and travel writer Kalyan Karmakar (not in picture).
“Earlier, the food blogging community in Calcutta wasn’t as active as in other metro cities. I feel that bloggers shouldn’t be too judgemental and instead be creative. They shouldn’t forget that food is the ultimate hero,” said Davide.
The evening saw Arnab Bhattacharya Quartet featuring Gabu perform instrumental numbers.
From Chicken Seekh Wrap to Paneer Tikke Kebabs and Galauti, there was a wide range of starters from Panj Tara doing the rounds.
