Bridgette Jones Has The Most Effective Make-up Tricks Up Her Sleeve Published 06.03.11, 12:00 AM

I am 26. I have shoulder-length wavy hair. How can I tie it up in different ways for a party? I don’t want to wear it open all the time

For a successful party upstyle not every strand has to be in place. Having loose bits of hair especially around your face, creates a soft look.

Since you already have naturally wavy hair you’ll spend less time perfecting these waves into a soft and romantic updo. Don’t try to turn your waves into straight strands.

Updo hairstyles can add that extra something to your look for a special event and there is nothing more comfortable than wearing your hair up during hot summer days.

Learning how to create a fabulous hairstyle isn’t difficult. With the right tools, products and a little practice, you can style your hair in no time.

Step 1: Wash your hair with a mild shampoo and condition it. Rinse using cold water to lock the moisture in. Wrap your head in a clean towel and allow the towel to absorb the excess water.

Step 2: After about five minutes remove the towel and work a voluminising mousse through your hair so it receives the right amount of body. The mousse will actually act as a base for the stylish waves as without it the hair might look frizzy.

Step 3: You can either set your hair with hot rollers for a professional look or scrunch it with a dryer with a diffuser attached on a cool mode to get a sexy scrunched look.

Step 4: When completely dry, gather the hair at the back of the head, holding it like a ponytail in one hand. The ponytail should be in the centre of the head.

Step 5: Twist the ponytail by turning it clockwise Slide a comb into the left side of the twist to secure it. Arrange the curls or scrunched waves at the back and top of the head. Spray them with hairspray to keep them in place.
