Coconut oil pulling is being recommended as one of the best ways of oral detoxification. It removes bacteria and makes teeth and gums healthier. Not only that, its effects go deeper, some feel, as the oil pulls out toxins from the throat and upper abdomen areas also.
Rooted in Ayurvedic practice, oil pulling, or gandusha in Ayurveda, is performed by simply swishing one tablespoon of oil inside your mouth.
Organic coconut oil is a very good option. Otherwise you can use olive oil or sesame oil. Do it the first thing in the morning, before brushing your teeth.
The oil will suck the toxins out from deep within your teeth and mouth. The cleansing will ensure the flow of liquids that are responsible for oral health.
Oil pulling is said to reduce a bacteria that contributes to tooth decay in children. It is also said to reduce micro-organisms in plaque and helps to fight plaque-induced gingivitis.
It strengthens gums and jaws, stops gum bleeding, cleans teeth, hydrates the throat and lips, reduces inflammation, improves digestion and generally boosts the immune system.
Method:
- Swish the oil in your mouth for 10 to 20 minutes.
- Spit out the oil and rinse your mouth. The oil will feel heavier when you spit.
- You can rinse your mouth with saline water for better results.
- Brush your teeth.
- Do it every second day.
