Mercedes-Benz India reports best ever sales in FY24, 10 per cent growth over last fiscal

In the January to March 2024 period, the company sold 5,412 cars, posting a growth of 15 per cent over the same period last year when it sold 4,697 units

Mercedes-Benz India closed FY2024 with its best ever sales of 18,123 units, a 10 per cent growth over the last fiscal when it had sold 16,497 units.

In the January to March 2024 period, the company sold 5,412 cars, posting a growth of 15 per cent over the same period last year when it sold 4,697 units.

The BMW Group India has sold 3,680 cars in the January to March 2024 period. BMW Motorrad sold 1,810 motorcycles in the same period.

Breaking down the BMW group sales, BMW sold 3,510 units and Mini 170 units. The company, which releases its sales performance by the calendar year, sold 14,172 units in 2023.

Audi India reported a 33 per cent increase in retail sales at 7,027 units for the fiscal ended March 31. The German auto maker had sold 5,275 units in the country in the 2022-23 financial year.

JLR India has reported a sales of 4,436 units in FY24, posting a year-on-year growth of 81 per cent. The company said it was one of its best performances in the market since the company’s launch in India in 2009 and its highest in the last five years.

Range Rover and Defender retail sales continued to grow with year-on-year increases of 160 per cent and 120 per cent, respectively. The recently launched 2024 Model Year Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque grew 50 per cent and 55 per cent year-on-year, respectively.

Total retail sales for the fourth quarter of FY 24 (January to March 2024) were 854 units, up 43 per cent year-on-year.

BMW India sold 211 electric vehicles in the January to March 2024 period, posting a 26 per cent growth over the same period last year. Mercedes India says it posted a 130 per cent growth in its BEV sales in Q1, 2024.

BMW claims its i7 is the largest-selling luxury EV with the company offering a robust portfolio.
