D-Mart milestone

Shares of Avenue Supermarts, the parent of food and grocery retailer D-Mart, crossed the Rs-1-trillion-mark in intra-day trades on Monday as its shares hit a new 52-week high.

Mumbai: Shares of Avenue Supermarts, the parent of food and grocery retailer D-Mart, crossed the Rs-1-trillion-mark in intra-day trades on Monday as its shares hit a new 52-week high.

The scrip hit an intra-day high of Rs 1,619.95, which marked a gain of nearly 1.70 per cent over its previous close.

Taking the intra-day high price in consideration, the company's market valuation rose to Rs 1,01,098 crore. However, the share came off its highs to close marginally higher at Rs 1,593.80.

At close, the market cap of Avenue Supermarts stood at Rs 99,466.59 crore. On the BSE, over 1.22 lakh shares were transacted while on the NSE where the counter closed with gains of 0.05 per cent at Rs 1,594.40, over 8 lakh shares changed hands. The company stands at 29th position in the overall m-cap ranking on the BSE.

Since its listing in March last year, the Avenue Supermarts has continued to gain steadily. At current market prices, it has risen 433 per cent over its issue price.
