Cairn strikes oil in KG

New Delhi, Aug. 23: Cairn India has made an oil and gas discovery in an onland KG-basin block. “Cairn Energy India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cairn India, has notified the directorate-general of hydrocarbons of a discovery of oil and gas Nagayalanka-1z well, located in the onshore block KG-ONN-2003/1,” the company said.

IFCI bonds

New Delhi, Aug. 23: Financial institution IFCI has launched a series of tax-free infrastructure bonds for retail investors, who can enjoy tax exemption under Section 80CCF of the income tax act for investments up to Rs 20,000.

Tata Motors

New Delhi, Aug. 23: Crisil has raised its long-term debt rating of Tata Motors to AA- from A+, reflecting an improvement in the ability of the auto major to repay loans. The upgrade comes on expectations of Jaguar Land Rover generating positive cash flows.

HSBC buy

Johannesburg, Aug. 23: HSBC is in talks to buy up to 70 per cent of South Africa’s Nedbank in a $6.8-billion deal that will give Europe’s biggest lender a broader gateway to Africa.

SBI Life feat

Mumbai, Aug. 23: SBI Life Insurance has earned the distinction of topping the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), in terms of the number of MDRT advisers for the second year in a row.
