Essar Steel deal

Seoul, May 19: INI Steel, South Korea?s second-largest steelmaker, is in talks to sell two mills, acquired as part of an acquisition last year, to Essar Steel. ?We are negotiating but nothing has been decided,? said Kim Kyung Sik, spokesman for INI Steel. Kim was responding to a report in Maeil Economic Daily, which said INI Steel would sell the mills for about $100 million.

Zydus pact

New Delhi, May 19: Zydus Cadila today inked a deal with Mayne Pharma of Australia to set up a joint venture to manufacture generic injectible cytotoxic (anti-cancer) medicines and active pharmaceutical ingredients for global markets.

Oil prices

New Delhi, May 19: The petroleum ministry wants a steep hike in prices of petrol and diesel because of the rise in duties and a surge in global crude rates. The ministry has made the recommendations in a note prepared for the cabinet meeting next week.

PC boom

New Delhi, May 19: Shipment of computers to India grew 29 per cent in 2004-05 at 3.6 million units, according to IDC. The growth was fuelled by a steady demand from the government, banking and technology sectors.

FDC drug

Mumbai, May 19: FDC has received an approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for its sterile manufacturing facility that will prepare ophthalmic dosage forms at Waluj in Aurangabad and the R&D centre at Jogeshwari here.
