Better business outlook

New Delhi, Feb. 13: With the economy projected to grow at a healthy pace in 2010-11, business outlook for industry has improved, even if marginally, for the last quarter, a CII survey said. According to the survey, the business confidence index for January-March stood at 68.7 against 67.3 in the previous quarter. “The prospect for the coming quarter appears to be brighter,” it said.

Export hurdle

New Delhi, Feb. 13: India’s exports will be “seriously jeopardised” unless the government addresses infrastructural bottlenecks of exporters in the next five years, commerce secretary Rahul Khullar today said.

BlackBerry

New Delhi, Feb. 13: The government today hardened its stand against BlackBerry for not providing a solution to intercept enterprise mail services. It has asked telecom operators to stop any such services that cannot be monitored according to the satisfaction of law enforcement agencies.

FDI growth

New Delhi, Feb. 13: Snapping two months of declining trend, foreign direct investment in India increased 30.69 per cent to $2 billion (about Rs 9,000 crore) in December from $1.54 billion (Rs 7,185 crore) a year ago.

Cairn issue

New Delhi, Feb. 13: The oil ministry may refer mining group Vedanta Resources’ buyout of Cairn India to the cabinet as a standoff over Cairn’s main oil fields in Rajasthan has stalled approval to the $9.6-billion deal.
