Cairn key man exits

New Delhi, April 10: Mike Watts, the man credited with discovering India’s largest onland oilfield in Rajasthan, will step down from the board of Cairn Energy plc in the middle of May. Watts, 58, was head of exploration at the Edinburgh-based firm when most of the 28 oil and gas finds, including Mangala and Bhagyam, were made in the Barmer block.

World Bank

Washington, April 10: The private sector strongly feels that India is a difficult place to do business in because of many regulations, World Bank president Jim Young Kim said today, calling for necessary reforms to create a better environment and spur growth.

SBI bonds

Mumbai, April 10: The State Bank of India has hit the overseas bond market with a dual tranche benchmark issue of 5-year and 10-year maturity to raise up to $1 billion. It today launched the roadshow in major global financial centres and will close the transaction later in the day.

Coal bids

New Delhi, April 10: The government has so far received 36 applications from companies, including Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and Tata Steel, in response to the notice inviting applications for allotment of three coal blocks on tariff-based bidding.
