Microsoft post falls vacant

New Delhi, Feb. 10: Ravi Venkatesan, chairman and corporate vice-president of Microsoft’s Indian operations, has resigned to pursue opportunities outside the company. A successor will be named in the near future and Venkatesan will partner Microsoft International president Jean-Philippe Courtois to ensure a smooth transition with his successor.

Tax treaty

New Delhi, Feb. 10: India has entered into a pact with the British Virgin Islands for exchanging information to check tax evasion and money laundering.

Japan trade

New Delhi, Feb. 10: India will sign a market opening trade pact with Japan on February 16. The pact will enable both the countries to reduce or eliminate duties on most of the goods and services.

ICICI rejig

Mumbai, Feb. 10: Anup Bagchi has been appointed managing director and CEO of ICICI Securities with effect from May 1. Bagchi, who is now the executive director of the firm, will replace Madhabi Puri-Buch, who will be moving to ICICI Bank.

Swabhimaan

New Delhi, Feb. 10: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi today launched Swabhimaan — the financial inclusion campaign of the government — which aims to bring banking services to unbanked rural areas.
