Petronet profit plunges

New Delhi, Aug. 4: Petronet LNG has reported a 30 per cent drop in net profit at Rs 156 crore in the first quarter of 2014-15 against Rs 225 crore in the same period last year because of higher input cost. “The decrease in net profit is primarily because of higher depreciation and interest charges pertaining to Kochi LNG terminal capitalised in the books of accounts in September 2013, and also lower margins at Dahej (terminal),” CEO Ashok K. Balyan said.

Scrip shift

Mumbai, Aug. 4: Top stock exchanges BSE and NSE will shift securities of several companies, including Ramco Systems, to the restricted trading segment from Wednesday for ensuring greater investor safety.

Tea gardens

New Delhi, Aug. 4: The Centre is committed to reviving sick tea gardens and a joint effort will be made by it along with the state governments, labour minister Narendra Singh Tomar said in the Lok Sabha today

Refinery hub

New Delhi, Aug. 4: India refines more oil than the domestic requirement and the government seeks to develop the country as a refinery hub, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Coal India

New Delhi, Aug. 4: Coal India achieved an output of 33.1 million tonnes (mt) in July against the target of 35.80mt. The development comes at a time the maharatna firm is drawing flak for missing its output targets.
