Women colleges in admission mode

Most colleges in Patna are witnessing a huge footfall of students these days as the admissions into undergraduate and postgraduate courses have begun.

Patna Women’s College under Patna University would conduct an entrance test for those interested in BA/BSc/BCom on July 3. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 45 per cent marks in Class XII boards or at the Intermediate-level.

JD Women’s College under Magadh University would announce a cut-off percentage only after admission forms are submitted.

For admissions into IA/ISc and BA/BSc, forms would be available till June 15 and have to be submitted by June 30. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 45 per cent marks.

Usha Singh, the principal of the college, said: “The cut-offs would be announced in the first week of July. This would be done only after the filled-up forms reach us.”

In the arts stream, the college offers courses in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, sociology, political science, psychology, philosophy, history, economics, home science and music. The dates for vocational courses have not been announced yet.

Magadh Mahila College under Patna University has, however, started the admission process for its vocational as well as its BCA/BBA courses. Admission forms for MA in music would be sold till June 21. Principal of Magadh Mahila College Dolly Sinha said: “As far as admissions in BA/BSc are concerned, forms would be sold till June 21. The entrance test would be held on July 4. The results would be declared in a week after that.”

The courses offered are history, psychology, Hindi, English, social science, home science, Sanskrit, Urdu, Maithili, Persian, philosophy, music, physics, chemistry, zoology, botany and maths. “Admissions into all the courses would be over by July 15,” Sinha added. Students, willing to get admissions into IA, ISc, ICom or undergraduate courses at Arvind Mahila College, will have to fill and submit the admission forms by June 30. Those interested should have a minimum of 45 per cent marks. The cut-off would be declared on July 3.

Shiv Narayan, the media in-charge of the college, said: “We provide courses in BCA, BBM, PG diploma in information & computer technology, PG diploma in travel and tourism management, PG diploma in women’s empowerment.”

He added: “Forms will be available till June 30 and will have to be submitted by then. The entrance test for all the five courses would be held on July 3 and the interview of the selected candidates would be held on July 5. The results would be out on July 8. Admissions would begin on the same day and would continue till July 18. Classes would begin on July 22.”
