Patna: Police will seek a warrant against BJP MLC Awadesh Narayan Singh's sons Sushant Ranjan and Prashant Ranjan, accused of confining a woman to sexually assault her.

The complainant has also alleged that the brothers offered her liquor which she refused.

"Later, they locked me inside a room on the ground floor and assaulted me," she said.

The lady in her complaint said she had gone to the MLC's house at 2 Circular road on May 16 morning because Sushant had said he wanted to clear some misgivings between them. After some time, Prashant also came in and an argument broke out during which the brothers locked her up and misbehaved with her, she alleged.

"We have started the process for issuing warrant in the case from court," said Mahila police station house officer Biva Kumari. "We have recorded the complainant's statement afresh."

Police sources said the statement was recorded afresh as there were unanswered questions in her initial complaint, such as how she managed to escape from the house. On Monday evening, senior police officers called the complainant and spoke to her for over 90 minutes.

A BJP minister said: "If the woman does not withdraw the case, Awadesh's sons will have to go to jail."

Awadesh is considered close to chief minister Nitish Kumar.
