Traffic curbs, parking plan for PM visit

Patna traffic superintendent of police P.K. Das on Thursday released the traffic plan for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Saturday for the centenary year celebration of Patna University.

"No vehicle will be allowed on Ashok Rajpath from 9am till the function gets over," said Das. "Only those who have passes issued by the district administration and emergency service vehicles such as ambulances and fire brigades will be allowed."

Those who want to take go towards Patna City through Ashok Rajpath have to take a longer route. They have to pass Bakrganj, Ram Ghoolam Chowk via Exhibition Road flyover, which connects the Old Bypass. Similarly, vehicles coming from Gai Ghat and Patna City have to take a diversion from Gandhi Chowk to reach the main city, while travelling through Bhikhna Pahadi, Machuatoli via Beer Chand Patel Marg.

No vehicle will be allowed to park around Kargil Chowk. Parking restrictions will be in force from Patna airport to Science College from 6am till the function gets over.

Fifteen minutes before the Prime Minister's aircraft lands, all vehicles will be diverted to the nearest lane and bylane at Patna airport, Patel roundabout, Rajendra Chowk, Karpoori roundabout, New Secretariat, Hartali Mor, Income Tax roundabout, Dakbungalow, JP Roundabout, Children's Park, Kargil Chowk, Ashok Rajpath and Science College.

Similarly, vehicles on Bailey Road and Boring Road will be diverted towards Boring Road Crossing and can go to Patna City via Rajapur Pul, Bans Ghat, Golghar, DM's residence, Ram Ghoolam Chowk to Exhibition Road flyover connecting Old Bypass.

Vehicles from Saguna Mor and Danapur will be diverted towards Rajbanshi Nagar and Patel Nagar. "There are three gates for entry of guests and dignitaries at Science College," said Das. "Vehicles can enter towards the parking area for alumni of Patna University, police, district administration and invited guests."

Only vehicles belonging to the Prime Minster, the chief minister and the governor can park inside the state hangar. The western part of the parking area at Patna airport will be restricted for general public and only the vehicles of the Assembly Speaker, Council chairman and ministers will be allowed.

As per Patna traffic police, the Prime Minister will arrive at 10.40am and depart at 3.45pm from the airport.
