Muzaffarpur, April 10: Baleshwar Prasad, the station house officer (SHO) of Kazi Mohammadpur police station, has allegedly threatened his boss, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP), (headquarters), Manish Kumar with dire consequences.
The zonal inspector-general of police (IG), Muzaffarpur, Gupteshwar Pandey, has slapped a suspension order on Prasad and initiated departmental proceedings against him.
The IG has also told Prasad to leave Muzaffarpur within 24 hours and go to Bettiah in West Champaran during the period of suspension.
The senior superintendent of police (SSP), Muzaffarpur, Rajesh Kumar, has requested the zonal IG for disciplinary action against Prasad for threatening Kumar.
The DSP had been investigating embezzlement of funds in making papers of Kisaan Credit Card by Pinki Kumari, an agent. He had detected an alleged connivance of Prasad with Pinki in swindling money. Prasad was also allegedly sheltering her.
However, Pinki is still at large despite a named FIR against her at Kazi Mohammadpur police station.
Sources said Manish Kumar had earned the wrath of Prasad when two witnesses of the case recorded their statements in the court stating the apparent role of Prasad in hobnobbing with Pinki.
Prasad then threatened Manish Kumar. The zonal IG, Gupteshwar Pandey, suspecting the SHO of conniving with Pinki removed him from the investigation and entrusted the task to Manish Kumar.
Then SSP, Muzaffarpur and currently DIG, Saran division, Sunil Kumar had also asked for an explanation from Prasad for delaying Pinki’s arrest.
The abrupt removal of Prasad from the investigation by the zonal IG and subsequent handing over the case to the DSP was the reason for Prasad threatening Manish, said a source in the police department.
Manish said two witnesses had made startling disclosures against Prasad regarding the financial connection of Prasad with Pinki, the main accused in the case, in the court.
The two witnesses had made startling disclosures against Prasad. SSP Muzaffarpur Rajesh Kumar said the threat to the DSP by an inspector is a matter of concern.
The DSP has lodged a complaint against Prasad in writing and Prasad has been placed under suspension by the zonal IG following his recommendation.
The zonal IG would recommend to the director-general of police to dismiss Prasad from the police service if he did not mend his ways.
