Tableaux present culture, tradition

Jeevika clinches first position among 12 departments

Patna, Aug. 15: Tableaux of 12 different departments of the government remained the centre of attraction during the 69th Independence Day celebrations held at Gandhi Maidan today.

The tableaux were displayed on different themes in which the artists were found performing when those were passing on the parade ground.

After chief minister Nitish Kumar unfurled the national flag, the tableaux were displayed on the ground to which people had a big applaud.

The art culture and youth affairs department was the first showcasing the culture and tradition of Bihar. To depict the theme, artists were performing Mithlanchal's famous folk dance Jharni, which is celebrated in Muhhram by male members. In another scene, a few were found doing wrestling apart from displaying famous Madhubani painting.

Tight security arrangements were made as deployment of police personnel at every corner was visible inside and outside the ground. Second in the list was the information and public relations department's tableau depicting former President APJ Abdul Kalam and his relations with Bihar.

Kalam's picture was displayed and his famous quotes were also put on the tableau. Nitish was found watching the tableau with much interest along with other senior officials of the state government. From the VIP gallery, department secretaries and principal secretaries appreciated the themes followed by a huge applaud.

Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society, better known as Jeevika, got the first prize for their tableau showcasing the change of standard of living in rural areas where women are using tablets and children were studying under solar lamp apart from use K-YAN technology. A portable device use for holding classes and educating people.

Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation secured second position for their theme of trustworthy and effective role in the service to the state. It has the model of masterplan of under construction building of Bihar Military Police training centre at Dumraon. It also has modern women police station and SC/ST police station building.

The tourism department, which portrayed the theme of Sitamarhi, birthplace of Sita, in the tableau, got third position in which Janki Mandir was displayed along with Mithila King Janak. State health society of the health department made an entry to the field with the theme of Mukhyamantri Saghan Tikakaran Abhiyan, giving stress upon special immunisation drive in which the importance of pentavalent vaccine was defined that how does it protect infant from diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B and haemophilus. There was also logo of "Healthy Bihar Prosperous Bihar".

Mahila Vikas Nigam of the social welfare department displayed the tableau with the theme of safety of women and their rights. On the tableau, women artists were showing the change of their life comparing earlier days and present days. Similarly, the agriculture department had a tableau on the theme of healthy soil and rich farming in which soil testing lab was portrayed.

The industry department had a tableau with the theme of "Badh Chala Bihar" in which industries of cement, sugar and cycle were shown and the whole structure was covered with Madhubani painting.

Mukhyamantri Vidyalaya Suraksha Yojana was the theme of Bihar Education Project Council under the education department in which school students showed various ways to protect themselves at the time of natural disaster.

Similarly, the public health and engineering department portrayed the theme of Swachh Bharat Mission, where as Bihar Mahadalit Vikas Mission portrayed how their social economic lives changed through mobile technology.

The celebrations started at 9am and ended at 10.15am.
